“I believe in the art. I believe in empowering women and lifting each other up rather than knocking each other down. I think what you’re doing is amazing and helps to connect women and everyone really. It’s something that I would love to be a part of.As a photographer myself, The artistry completely speaks to me. The benefit for me I think is much about practising what you preach. I am always telling my clients how beautiful they are. I specialize mainly in boudoir photography and I want women to feel strong and empowered and beautiful and they see pictures of themselves.. I am always behind the lens and rarely get to feel that way myself.
I hope that I can to show other women that it’s OK to be vulnerable. It’s OK to struggle. It’s OK to think that being a mom is really fucking hard.
I think my story is typical of many. I’m just a regular girl trying to lead a regular life.
I met my now husband at 15 years old, dated for 10 years before getting married. Struggled with fertility for another 10 years as well. We bought a business and then the economy crashed. With that we lost everything. Our house. Our savings. Our friends. Our love. Just absolutely everything. It was so hard to admit defeat. Hard to live up to the mistakes that we had made. We ended up in huge financial debt that we are still wading our way out. My husband and I separated several times. But in the end we were able to let go of our past and forgive ourselves for the mistakes we made. Now we have a beautiful family with two young boys. I’ve got stretch marks, and baby weight. I probably yell too much and feed my kids too much sugar. But that is OK. It’s taken me a long time to realize that there is no such thing as perfect. But I am proud to say I’m at a point in my life where I’m happy. Where I’m content. Where life feels right.”
