After being in Ubud for over a week and exploring the area Chelsey and I decided to go to Sanur while Jenny went North and my sister waited for Sam. We arrived by cab which is always an experience in itself and most of the cab drivers don’t actually know where anything is. Got to our home stay and went to explore the beach. To our surprise the beach was packed with locals which made for amazing photographs but my blonde hair defiantly put me in the spotlight.
We spent two nights in Sanur, two very eventful nights hahah. The home stay that we were staying in wasn’t exactly lovely… In the end we barricaded the door with our backpacks, pushed our beds together and made a video to say goodbye incase we got murdered in our sleep. LOL yes, maybe a little bit over dramatic but that place was creepy!
Happy to be leaving we ventured to Padang Bai, a cute little harbour town where we would take a boat to Gili Air. We met back up with Jenny to find her scrapped and bruised from a scooter crash (much better off then her passenger though). Got some medical supplies and spent the day on the beach. That evening we sat on the docks and I met some pretty adorable children. One boy was very excited to have me photograph him while he continually jumped into the ocean and I befriended a young girl. My sister and Sam showed up the next day and the following we jumped on our boat off to Gili Air.
The Gili Islands are an archipelago of three small islands; Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air. We chose Gili Air as we heard it was the best of all three worlds. No scooters on the island, just horse and buggy to get around. No dogs either, only cats. Tj, Sam and Jenny found an amazing bungalow set up for us to stay in. With the largest bathroom I have ever seen haha. Of course I did some selfies in it (they will be on the next blog). The island was amazing, though I ended up getting quite sick from all my allergies. I decided to take my Open Water diving training even though I had congested sinuses, I managed to do all but two dives before I had to quit because of my right ear. Unfortunate because I really wanted to get it done so I could go diving with the Manta-rays in Flores but oh well. I will finish it now on Vancouver Island. We spent 4 nights on Gili Air ( I believe haha) then we started our BOAT TRIP!
to be continued in next blog…
